February Primary Election Results

Spring elections in Wisconsin are non-partisan except for the Presidential Preference Vote in February. The results of the presidential preference vote is listed first. The local primaries are listed after the presidential.



Presidential Preference Vote

In Wisconsin, the spring primaries are non-partisan. The officials elected in these elections run without party designation. However, every 4 years the presidential primary is held at the same time as the non-partisan elections.

When you cast your ballot for a Democratic or a Republican candidate you are actually giving instructions on how delegates should vote at the respective party conventions. The top vote getters in the primary will have the most delegates voting at the conventions. That is why there is "Uninstructed Delegation" listed as a choice for both parties. You can choose to not instruct delegates how to vote.

You can also select to write in someone's name which is not listed on the ballot.

Upcoming Elections: Spring & Fall 2008


This spring has a number of school board, county, municipal elections, possible referenda as well as the Presidential Prefrence vote. Candidates are not required to file their nomination papers yet so we do not know which races will be contested. We also do not have the names of any challengers to incumbents.


Important Election Links

  • Locate your polling place anywhere in the State of Wiconsin. You can also learn who the candidates are for your district. This is the State Accountability Board, Elections Division web site.
  • The US Election Assistance Commission web site contains copies of a voter registration form that can be used by any Wisconsin resident. It is contained in a pdf file. Page 25 of the form contains instructions specific to Wisconsin. Read those before you start filling out the form. Some items required by other states are NOT required by Wisconsin.
  • Wisconsin Vote.org is a service by Wisconsin Public TV and WIsconsin Public Radio. Their site contains video intereviews with the "top" 3 candidates of both parties for the presidential primary and some other races. Rummage the site it is interesting.
