The International Day of Democracy

(The  International Day of Democracy, which was established by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 2007 to promote and uphold democratic principles.) 
The day's goals include: 
 • Advocating for democracy as a fundamental human right 
 • Promoting democracy as a key component of effective governance and global peace 
 • Assessing the global status of democracy 
 • Mobilizing political will and resources to address global problems
