EA / Natural Decaffeinated Process:
The ethyl acetate (EA) process, also known as natural decaffeination, uses a natural solvent to remove caffeine from green coffee beans. Harvested sugar cane is fermented, creating the EA, then the green coffee is steamed, opening the pores, making caffeine easier to remove. Next, the green coffee is soaked in EA, which breaks the caffeine away from the bean. The coffee is thoroughly rinsed and re-rinsed, dried and polished, and off to be shipped.
