New Member Orientation Held July 10

Nearly 40 new members attended the orientation at Summit Place to learn more about the League structure, goals and programs, and – most importantly – to learn about many  rewarding volunteer opportunities with LWVMC. Welcome!

Are you ready with a plan?

The primary election is less than a month away.

All candidates in the August 9 partisan primary election have been invited to participate in the League of Women Voters Milwaukee County’s online Voter Guide at Vote 411.org. Questions were posed to candidates running for federal office by the LWVUS; to candidates running for state office by the LWVWI; and to local candidates by the LWVMC.

To do list:

Be prepared to vote! Spread the word about Vote 411.org to your neighbors, family, friends, and colleagues.
1. Encourage candidates to participate in VOTE411.
2. Find out who is on your August 9 primary ballot by going to Vote 411.org and typing in your address.
  • If the candidates have answered our questions, thank them!
  • If the candidates have not answered our questions, call on them to do so. You can say: “As a voter, I want to hear where you stand on the issues before casting my ballot. That is why I’m calling on you to respond to the questions for the VOTE411 Voter Guide.”
  • If a local candidate (Milwaukee and Waukesha County or the City of Milwaukee) says that he/she has not received an invitation, they can contact Sarajane Kennedy at voterguide@lwvmilwaukee.org who will re-send the invitation.
3. Read and study candidate answers to the League’s questions before going to the polls.
