Hosted by the Elections Research Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the State Democracy Research Initiative, this installment of the Election Matters 2022 series will focus on campaign finance and the state of our political discourse, including potential regulatory and nonregulatory solutions. Panelists will include Professor Daniel Kreiss (University of North Carolina Hussman School of Journalism & Media), Professor Rick Pildes (New York University School of Law), and Katie Harbath (Anchor Change).

On August 5, 2012 the worst attack on Sikh Americans in our nation's history occurred at the Oak Creek, Wisconsin gurdwara (Sikh house of worship). Six people were shot and killed that day with a seventh person dying in 2020 from his wounds. On August 4-7, 2022 the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin along with interfaith and community allies joined together at this Chardi Kala Community Event to remember the seven lives lost as well as honor the resilience of the Oak Creek Sikh community.
The LWV received a request from Rucha Kaur of the national Sikh Coalition to participate. The Milwaukee County League was there to demonstrate support for the Sikh community and to provide voter information. Voter registration volunteers spoke with attendees that day at our table located not far from the most powerful reminder of August 5--the seven portraits of the victims of the attack.
The LWVMC was honored to be asked to participate in this event--a powerful tribute to the resilience of the Oak Creek Sikh community. | Public Input Sought For November Candidates

| Thank you for voting in the August 9 partisan primary election and for using VOTE411.org to be an informed voter!! | | | VOTE411.org will be available again beginning on Wednesday, September 21, prior to the November 8 general election.
We will invite those candidates running in the November election who were not in a primary race to participate in the 2022 Fall Voter Guide. We will also reach out to those candidates who won in the primary and did not respond to the League’s invitation to participate in the Fall Voter Guide for the primary election. They will have the opportunity to participate in the Voter Guide for the general election.
We encourage all candidates to answer the League’s questions on important issues to educate voters prior to the election.
Participating in elections is one of our key freedoms. This November we will vote on races important to our local community, our state, and our country. | | | Invite Your Friends and LWV Members to Join Our Lunch and Learn
