Subject: Reminder to Call Clerks/School Boards
From: League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County

ATTENTION VOTE411 TEAM COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS!

This is an important reminder to contact your municipal clerks and/or school districts on Wednesday, January 3, the day after the candidate filing period ends on January 2 to make sure you have names and contact information for all candidates who filed.

Then, as soon as possible, send the information to us at voterguide@lwvmilwaukee.org.

The Voter Guide Committee will meet January 3, 4, and 5 to assemble the 2024 Spring Guide. It is critical to get the final candidate information to us as quickly as possible.

Here is the information we need for each candidate:

  • Name

  • Race/Office Sought

  • Candidate’s campaign or personal Email Address (We cannot use a government email address.)

  • Candidate’s U.S. mailing address (The address will not be published in the Voter Guide but is helpful to test, to make sure the candidate will appear on the ballot in the correct location. It is also critical in cases where we cannot obtain an email address.)

  • Phone Number if available (The phone number will not be published in the Voter Guide but is helpful for last minute problems, for example, if an email address is not working.)

Please also ask the clerk or school district, how many openings there are for a race or office.

Please also ask the clerk or school district if there will be any referendum questions on the ballot. We only need to know, yes or no at this time and will contact them later for more information.

The clerk/school district may send you the information via your email. In that case, please simply forward it to voterguide@lwvmilwaukee.org.  The clerk may send an attachment (spreadsheet or word doc) which you should forward as well.

Receiving the information via an email from the clerk/school district is the preferred method but may not work for every municipality or school district.

The clerk or school district may direct you to a website where the information has been posted.  In that case, please simply forward the link to voterguide@lwvmilwaukee.org.

But if any of the information we need (listed above) is missing, please follow up with the clerk or school district for missing information and get back to us at voterguide@lwvmilwaukee,org.

Remember, the deadline for obtaining the election information for our Voter Guide is Wednesday, January 3, 2024, one week from today.

If you have questions or problems in getting this information, please contact Sarajane Kennedy (Milwaukee County) or Ellen Trytek (Waukesha County) at voterguide@lwvmilwaukee.org.

Thank you for all you do!

Sarajane
