We desire a world where all people have full autonomy over their bodies with equitable access to reproductive healthcare, regardless of social-economic status.
The League of Women’s Policy Position on Reproductive Rights was adopted in 1983 and guides our efforts today throughout Wisconsin. We believe our rights should be enshrined in the US constitution but until that occurs, we will fight for those rights within our state.
In the Wisconsin legislature, Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) and Senator Kelda Roys (D-Madison) introduced LRB-2921, the Abortion Rights Restoration Act (ARRA). The bill would establish a statutory right to abortion and repeal a number of dangerous and medically unnecessary restrictions on abortion care. You can read more about the ARRA here.
